Want to try a really good, delectable sandwich?

You know… the kind where there’s no real scientific cooking involved?

I had that kind of craving the other day, and so I found myself on a mission. By the time I’d left work and parked at Trader Joe’s, I knew exactly what I wanted.  I was in for a sandwich… but not a little foo-foo sandwich. I wanted something substantial. So, of course, like most great ideas, it started with bacon.

The results?
Savory, sweet, crispy, creamy, crunchy, and smooth.

All in the same bite.

Cut thick apple slices and cut out the center core. You can use a small round cookie/donut cutter, or be like me: I used an aluminum bottle cap

  1. I love this post! I make this sandwich with the same Trader Joe’s products. You have a better idea about how to slice the apples than I do, but other than that, my guys get the same ingredients. I use Morningstar Farms veggie bacon for mine and always make sure I buy brie at Joe’s made with vegetable or microbial rennet. 🙂

  2. We’re now in an area that doesn’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby…..we SO miss going there & need to make a trip “down the hill” & stock up on all our favorites. Thanks for the ideas of what to stock up on the next time we make a visit.
